It's definitely not the same scale for me. We are not talking about some units standing out from the crowd, we are talking about each unit with each style. Now, I might sound lazy and it's definitely not wrong but I feel AoE is already a complex game and we should keep this kind of stuff, when possible and without detracting from the gameplay, as simple as we can. It means I must re-learn units skin for each architectural style, and even more (Japanese Arbalests for example). I don't want to wonder 5 or 10 seconds if the units coming to me are Japanese Archers or Japanese Arbalests. Huskarls looks nothing like a basic unit, hence they must a UU.īut here, it's not the same thing. You can't compare the UU with this because UU usually stands out among basic units: there is "only" ~30 units or so and ~10 unit lines so it's easy to distinguish at a glance a UU from a basic unit. I think you underestimate the issue of confusion between the units. Encourage using it for people who wants it, sure because I can see tons of work have been poured into it but the default settings should be the safest. I'm only a casual single player but I would not like to make this mod as official. So guys, tell me what do you think, and if you are agreeing, please forward the message (in game, in social media, everywhere, really this game deserves that final definitive touch) Laughing aside, this civ needs a buff tho!) And we are already accustomed to 35 different units (the UU of each civ).Īfter a little every one will be able to distinguish an east-asian long swordman from a south-asian man-at-arm, or a central-asian pikeman from a middle-eastern spearmen (particularly if it's a Turk, yeah for sure it will be a spearman 11. men-at-arms or long-swordmen.īut let's be honest, it's just a matter of some games. But keeping the knight-line with some kind of armor/shield while the scout-line somehow armor-less (or a very light one) and/or shield-less might solve the problem.įinally the last concern might be to distinguish a unit within its upgrades line (mostly applicable to militia-line).Ī player not used to play with a particular set of civilisation might have some trouble to distinguish if the infantry units currently rushing his town are e.g. Regardless of the civilization skins it will be easy to distinguish a javelin from a bow.įinally, the only concern may appear between the scout-line and the knight-line (cav arch aside since they have a bow). The same apply to the archer and skirmishers. And the later is easily distinguishable with his spear/pike/halberd. Since currently all the units are the same, I agree that suddenly increasing ten-folds all the available units in the game might be confusing.īut having only a couple of units that are easily distinguishable simply not makes room for any confusion.įor example, for the infantry we have only the militia-line and the spearman-line. The only downside I see could be that this change may bring some confusion in order to distinguish units. This very one set or even more deeply crafted skins if necessary. ![]() This mod (that I had yet to try) should really become a default and should be implemented officially by the developers. It always bothered me that only the buildings had dedicated skins (and even not always correctly set, like for the Huns or Byzantines even if DE did a great job fixing some of them). I was surprised I didn't come across this mod sooner ![]() r/projectceleste - Age of Empires Online Official Forums - Bug Reporting/Ask for HelpĪrchive of Old/Inactive Channels - WIP - here Other AoE Communities Microsoft Store - AoE2 Definitive Edition. ![]() No streams are currently live.\n Play Online
